On the Production of α-Mannosidase from Soil Bacteria

Abstract
|
|
|
Soil microorganisms were isolated which grew on yeast mannan as the sole carbon source.
Growth of bacteria reached logarithmic phase after 24hours and stationary phase after 84hours. Mixed bacteria of them had best growth activity(OD 1.8) and about 98% of the mannan was digested in the stationary phase.
Enzyme activity of mixed bacteria was not found in the cultural filtrate but detected in the cell suspension treated by ultrasonic disintegrator (120pg/hr/ml). Enzyme activity of the suspension was higher than its supernatant after 84hours.
Enzyme activity of transluscent bacteria was found in the cultural filtrate (50pg/hr/ml) but not detected in the cell suspension treated by ultrasonic disintegrator.
